Vienna is a very special city but, if you go during Christmas time, it´s even more special.
The city, with snow and a Christmas spirit that is visible like in few other European cities, has a tradition of celebrating a Christmas party at Rathausplatz, the Town Square: Adventzauber.
In German, this means Advent Magic and at this event you can enjoy a Christmas market that sells everything related to this holiday, a huge Christmas tree, Christmas lights and workshops where kids can learn how to bake cakes.
Also, they can ask for their presents and wishes to the Christkindl, the Austrian version of Father Christmas.
At the market, you can find everything from food (especially chestnuts and mulled wine) to decoration items and souvenirs, everything to make Christmas as special as possible for the young and not-so-young.
The Christmas tree is imported from southern Austria and the park where it´s at, Rathauspark, has merry go rounds and pony rides for the kids.
